Phase one of the project consisted of learning more about the clients and their wishes for the home. Considering how this home will age and grow with the family was a lovely way to begin the process.
Phase two of the project was documents and planning. Extensive collaboration with the builder and trades influenced many architectural elements of the home. One of our favorite elements was addressing the beehive fireplace. We lifted the great room ceiling from 8 feet to 25 feet, creating a monument like corner for the new fireplace to rest.
Phase three of the project was construction and install. Seeking to bring a sense of connection to an existing fabric of the home, we connected the two with proportion and materiality. Glimpses of consistent countertop materials, flooring and wall pallets rolls together the exiting and the new. We wanted the family to experience the home from an inside out point of view. Strategically placed windows and doors allows you to feel protected from the busy Phoenix metro just outside its walls. Privacy was equally as important adding motorized shades to gently glide over openings, as the family's daily life transitions into the night.
