Upon taking a spontaneous drive to east Texas, our clients discovered their own slice of paradise overlooking one of the most coveted fishing lakes in Texas. Being removed form the city provided the project with some unique challenges that made for a strong design team. Constant collaboration with the builder and client were required, ultimately creating a generational property our clients will share for lifetimes to come.

Project Timeline

Phase (01)
Phase (02)
Phase (03)
Phase one consisted mostly of lighting design and quickly morphed into interior design for phase two. Lighting was one of the key elements in experiencing this property. Surrounded with floor to ceiling windows, we were careful not to compete with the changing natural light outside, but rather to design hand in hand with it.
Phase two welcomed the intentional interior design of the home. As a large entertaining, growing family, it was important to source furniture and materials that could adapt to the everchanging events within the home.
The third phase consisted of the procurement and installation of phase one and two. Being that this project was remote, the team utilized the power of video communication when questions arose on site. Travel for site visits was welcomed every two - four months until completion.

A Concealed Within Nature

This project's connection to nature was the common thread throughout the entire process. Understanding how natural light impacted the interior spaces based on the time of day, gave us clues on how to design. Upon entering the home you are greeted with 17 foot ceilings slanting upwards towards the trees, providing you with a sense of being in a tree house. This animation is carried into every bedroom of the home. Materials and finishes added a punctuated pop of color while consciously being aware not to compete with what lies outside the windows.
